InteropX @ HIMSS 2016
Cancer Reporting with CDC using a Standards-based Solution
Mar 1-4, 2016, Las Vega, NV
InteropX successfully partnered with CDC to demonstrate its Public Health Reporting Prototype Solution, within the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC’s) Technology Vignette at the 2016 Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Interoperability Showcase from March 1 through 4 in Las Vegas.
By using published Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), and Structured Data Capture (SDC) standard, the solution provides direct integration with EHR systems to capture the public health event data from the provider’s system. This approach significantly reduces time required for public health reporting, minimizes data errors and ensures that the public health agency receives high quality data that can be immediately analyzed. The mandatory reporting requirement of Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) data to state public health agencies and reporting of cancer data to state public health cancer registries were the two use cases demonstrated at this event.
We were very excited to have an opportunity to demonstrate our solution and discuss healthcare interoperability with Dr. Karen DeSelvo, National Coordinator for the Health Information Technology and Dr. Vindell Washington, Deputy National Coordinator for the Health Information Technology from Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
